Gold loses some steam, but settles 1% higher

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Gold futures lost some of the impetus as the Monday floor trading progressed, but closed in the black as the dollar remained weaker. Gold for December delivery added $13.80, or 1%, to $1,338.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. December silver ended 1.8% higher at $23.54 an ounce.
